Surinamese-Dutch artist néomi has dropped a tender new single in the form of ‘garden’. This one is a tribute to her grandfather’s battle with Alzheimer's, and is accompanied by an equally moving video. “He is at a stage now where he doesn't remember who I am, and sometimes I wonder if he still knows or understands who he is himself,” she says. “I see him walking around the garden or at family parties just completely lost but as long as my grandmother is there he will be fine. The beautiful part in this horrifying illness is that he still remembers my grandmother every day, just her, because she has been so important to him.” Her ethereal vocals are at the centre of the track, with a piano sound crafting a hypnotic accompaniment that sits perfectly in the folk-pop world she has become synonymous with.
